J.J. Yosh is an adventurer, filmmaker, TV/film personality. He's an eco-visionary that uses film & TV to inspire people to explore the great outdoors as well as appreciate nature. He has a degree in chemical engineering from UC Santa Barbara to understand how to design eco-friendly solutions to our industrial infrastructure.
During college, he co-founded an outdoors club named The Excursion Club to encourage peers to get outdoors. However, he soon discovered that this was his calling in life.
After graduating, he felt compelled to find a medium to get more people to explore the natural world. So, he started a non-profit production company in 2006 called Higher Earth Entertainment to create documentaries that would empower people & encourage them to get outside. Based in Boulder, Colorado, Yosh has since hosted and directed adventure and expedition programming for outlets including Discovery, TLC and Tastemade, and directed the feature documentary Ancient Tomorrow. He films much of his work alongside his cat Simon, known online as Backpacking Kitty.
