Tara Parian is a Los Angeles-based writer/director originally from the wilderness of New Hampshire. For the past ten years, she was a staple on the BuzzFeed Studios branded content team. Starting as a copywriter and working her way up to in-house director, she wrote and directed hundreds of pieces of content during her time there.
Tara has directed everything from short scripted comedies to celebrity press junket videos and award-winning short documentary pieces. She’s been honored with a Best in Show Advertising Award and is a Webby Award Honoree.
Tara is a fellow of the prestigious Ryan Murphy HALF Directing Initiative, where she shadowed an episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star on FOX. Prior to that, she was accepted into the Alliance of Women Directors Shadow Program, the Women in Film Mentorship Program, and multiple Sundance Directing Initiatives.
She recently completed a successful festival run for her debut short queer comedy Match Dot Mom, which earned multiple awards including Best Female Short at the San Diego LGBTQ Film Festival and Audience Awards across several festivals. The film has since been acquired for distribution by Tiny Scripted.
Tara is passionate about creating comedic stories centered around the queer experience and is developing a rom-com titled Disco Ball Dreams, a quarterfinalist in the HollyShorts Screenplay Competition.
