Charlie Cleveland is a writer, director, and producer with over 25 years of experience in interactive entertainment and filmmaking. He founded Unknown Worlds Entertainment in 2003, where he created and directed the award-winning hit Subnautica, guiding the game from his original concept through full development and Early Access on Steam. The title went on to earn major honors-including PC Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards and multiple "Bafta" and ''Navgtr'' nominations.
After two decades of shaping genre-defining games such as Natural Selection, Natural Selection 2, and Zen of Sudoku, Charlie transitioned into film, establishing Abyssal Films in 2024. He is funding and executive producing the upcoming Christmas feature Nutmeg & Mistletoe and hosts a filmmaking podcast under the Abyssal Films banner.
Charlie’s work focuses on world-building, emotional immersion, and storytelling that bridges both games and cinema.
