Biography

Greg Lyons

Mini bio

  • Greg Lyons began a career in music shortly after high school when he released a single on the highly regarded Sympathy for the Record Industry with his first band Trip 66. It wasn't long before the major labels started calling and the teenage drummer was soon touring the country with their full-length debut on Ruffhouse/Columbia records.

In 2004, Lyons released a record as part of the band Laguardia on Universal/Republic before leaving to pursue a goal more suited to his tastes and ideals, Eastern Conference Champions. ECC quickly took off after the group put out a self produced EP called "The Southampton Collection". Its success eventually landed them back under the Universal umbrella when they signed with Suretone Records.

ECC toured extensively in the United States, Europe and the UK. The band appeared on Last Call with Carson Daly and has had their music featured in movies such as The Twilight Sage: Eclipse and TV shows Gossip Girl, Friday Night Lights, and Life among others.

During his professional music career, Lyons has been featured in magazines such as Modern Drummer and Drum! while working with an array of producers such as Owen Morris (Oasis, Verve), Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins), The Butcher Brothers (Urge Overkill, The Fugees) and Thom Panunzio (U2).

In a departure from music, Lyons also found success in the movie industry when he landed a starring role in the indie film "The New Year Parade", which went on to take the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative at the 2008 SlamDance Film Festival. The movie took Lyons all over the festival circuit while bringing home a total of 10 major awards. Its most recent accolades include receiving 3 out of 4 stars from Roger Ebert and a nomination for the John Cassavetes award at the 2010 Independent Spirit Awards.

A proud native of the Philadelphia area, Lyons lives in Long Beach, CA
