Biography

Francis Jackson was born on October 2, 1917 in Malton, Yorkshire, England, UK. He died on January 10, 2022 in the UK.

In 2007 he was appointed a C.B.E. for services to music in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

He was Organist and Master of the Music at York Minster for thirty six years, retiring in 1982.

In 1978 he was appointed O.B.E. for services to music.

In the late 40s he taught composer John Barry music theory.
