Miguel Cruz Carretero

Biography

Miguel Cruz Carretero

Biography

  • Miguel Cruz is a director, writer, and producer originally from Spain, where he developed his expertise in comedy by participating in almost 200 TV episodes, including several 2D and 3D animated series, the Emmy-winning late-night show CAIGA QUIEN CAIGA, and directing two seasons of the #1 sitcom of all time: AIDA.

In Spain, Miguel started expanding his experience to his other passion: psychological thrillers. He wrote, directed, and produced the independent feature VULNERABLE, which achieved international distribution, opening in theatres in Spain and Latin America, coming in 4th at the Peruvian box office, and acquired by Sundance Channel, TVE, and Amazon Prime, among others.

Always pursuing to move his career forward, Miguel moved to Los Angeles in 2013, where he's directed the Emmy-nominated DISNEY's comedy BUNK'D, shadowed in CBS's THE NEIGHBORHOOD, written and EP'd FOX's remake for Spain of the Argentinian comedy PERMITIDOS, and written the remake of the Peruvian hit PAPA YOUTUBER.

Currently, Miguel is also directing dubbed projects for both Netflix and Disney for their top international shows into English (WELCOME TO EDEN, Harlan Coben's HOLD TIGHT and THE INNOCENT). Part of the 2022 Protégé Class of the DGA, member of its Latino Committee, and a Fulbright Scholar of the arts, Miguel has lived and worked in Spain, the U.K, France, Argentina, and the U.S., which adds to his broad directing experience a very eclectic and diverse cultural background.
