Biography

Ai Diem Le is an Australian actress, singer and model whose work spans theatre, film and music, distinguished by emotional precision, classical training and international experience. Born on 10 August 1982 in Adelaide, South Australia, she brings a depth of performance shaped by early stage immersion and sustained artistic discipline.

Le majored in Drama at Deakin University and holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts. Her extensive musical education includes a Bachelor of Composition and an Advanced Diploma in Vocal Jazz from Box Hill Institute, a Bachelor of Songwriting from JMC Academy and a Certificate in Music Theatre and Dance from Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance. She also holds a Master of Health Science from Victoria University, informing a nuanced understanding of psychology, embodiment and human behaviour in performance.

Her professional career began with a leading role in the musical Barnum in 1996. She went on to establish a strong presence in Australian theatre and screen and remains affiliated with Australasian Stage and Artworks. Her screen work includes A Nocturne directed by Bill Mousoulis, One More Tonight directed by Al Mehicevic, Remembrance directed by Hoang Tran Nguyen, Living with Dementia directed by John Cherry, work with Working Dog Productions and Past the Hour directed by Seewoo Kim. She starred in her first feature film Forget Me Not in 2012 and later appeared in Solace filmed in Vietnam in 2018, directed by Joe Chan.

A dedicated stage actress, Le has worked extensively with leading theatre companies across contemporary and classical repertoires. Her credits include Dinkum Assorted, Shakespeare in Saigon, Mobility, Hiroshima, Hamlet Machine, Silence, The Go Show and Six Degrees of Separation. She has toured nationally with The Quiet Brother and performed in Life’s a Stage and Lotus Project. In 2015 she appeared at the Malthouse Theatre with Playwriting Australia and received recognition for her portrayal of Thanh in Shakespeare in Saigon with Strathmore Theatre Company.

Alongside acting, Le is an accomplished vocalist. She joined the Melbourne Women’s Choir as a first soprano in 2005 and has toured Europe three times with the ensemble. Her musical practice spans jazz, blues and burlesque. She has worked as a radio presenter on 3CR Community Radio, featured on recordings by other artists and collaborated on international music video productions.

In recent years, Le has focused on personal creative projects, composing original music and developing self produced screen and stage works. This phase reflects a mature evolution of her practice, uniting performance, authorship and production. She is particularly drawn to character driven narratives, cross cultural storytelling and collaborations that value depth, restraint and emotional truth.
