Biography

Sudip is among India's leading contemporary screenwriters and showrunners. He is the co-creator and showrunner of Kohrra, the acclaimed Netflix murder mystery series, as well as the creator and showrunner of Paatal Lok, the groundbreaking Amazon crime drama series. Kohrra was released in July 2023 and swiftly rose to the Top 10 lists for Netflix not only in India but several countries around the world, and has been heralded as one of the best Indian shows of the year. Paatal Lok was rated by Variety as one of the twenty best international shows of 2020 and swept several awards in India and the world over, including the Best Original Digital Drama Series and Best Original Screenplay at the 25th Asian Television Awards in Singapore. Prior to his writing career, Sudip pursued an MBA from one of the world's top business schools - IIM-Ahmedabad. Although Sudip left the corporate world several years ago, he is now putting his management and operational skills to good use as one of India's leading showrunners. In addition to writing for television, Sudip wrote Abhishek Chaubey's critically acclaimed 2019 bandit Western, Sonchiriya, which went on to win the Best Film (Critics) at the prestigious Filmfare Awards in India. Sudip had previously written the screenplay for Chaubey's award-winning 2016 crime drama Udta Punjab as well as the screenplay for Navdeep Singh's critical and commercial hit thriller, NH10, starring top Indian star Anushka Sharma. He was also the Creative Producer on the 2018 horror film Pari and FoxStar Studio's 2017 fantasy comedy Phillauri. Sudip is currently in post-production on the second season of Paatal Lok, among other Indian and international projects.
