Biography

Lou Dorfsman was born in 1918 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. Lou is known for CBS Playhouse (1967), The CBS Festival of Lively Arts for Young People (1973) and J.T. (1969). Lou was married to Ann Hysa Dorfsman. Lou died on October 22, 2008 in Roslyn, New York, USA.

He was inducted into the Art Directors Hall of Fame and was awarded the American Institute of Graphic Arts Medal for Lifetime Achievement in 1978.

He received an honorary doctorate from the New School for Social Research and Long Island University.

He was creative director of the Museum of Broadcasting which is now the Paley Center for Media in New York City.

Father of Elissa Dorfsman of New Jersey, Mitchell Dorfsman of North Ridge, California, and Neil Dorfsman of Yorktown Heights, New York. Has one grandchild.
