- Vratislav Hlavatý was born on September 18, 1934 in Náchod, Czechoslovakia [now Czech Republic]. He was an actor and writer, known for Drahousek Klementina (1959), The Ninth Heart (1979) and The Dream World (1971). He was married to Michaela Pavlátová. He died on July 22, 2026 in the Czech Republic.

- In 2025, the Liberec Anifilm Festival awarded him a lifetime achievement award.
- Recipient of the Anifilm festival's Lifetime Achievement Award for Animated Film, he participated in the creation of many films.
- In the 1950s, he studied at the Higher School of Art and Design and the Prague Academy of Applied Arts.
- Also devoted himself to book illustration, but the public knew him primarily as the author of film posters, which he created from the 1960s, first for the Central Film Rental Company in Prague.
