One of the best Lebanese and Arabian voices, Wadi El-Safi was born in Niha Chouf in Mount-Lebanon as Wadi' Francis in November 1, 1921. His masculine and strong voice as well as his charismatic personality made him combined with his traditional songs a significant face of his country's culture, and became after a successful career a Lebanese cultural icon. Wadi started his career at the age of 17 and from that day he knew nothing but continuous recognition and admiration for all that he had given to the Lebanese song. He worked also in certain projects as a composer. Wadi also knew the theater as well as the cinema and worked as an actor more than once. The movies that he has been acknowledged for are "Ghazl El-Banat", "Mawwal", and "Nar El-Shawq". In 2013, Wadi suffered from Pulmonary Consolidation, and few weeks later he was admitted again to a hospital where he died in October 11,2013.
