William McAllister at an event for Worst Prom Ever (2018)

Biography

William McAllister

Mini bio

  • William McAllister is a producer, writer, actor, and director based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Will McAllister began acting in the 2000s, and started a teaching career as special education assistant in rural Utah. He was featured as an actor in several local shorts before penning and directing his own in 2012 titled 'Bear Heimlich', based on a stage play by Ginny Anderson. In August that same year, McAllister began instructing film courses at East Hollywood High School, also in Utah. There, he met and befriended fellow filmmaker and then instructor Joshua Wagner. In the following years, the two would write, produce, and direct many film and video shorts together. In 2013, Will produced and starred in the web-series 'Paradise High', directed by Wagner. The 2016 short film 'The Benevolent Boys', a passion project written and directed by McAllister loosely based on his own experiences as an adolescent, told the story of four teen-aged boys who harness the power of 1990s internet to wreck havoc on their high school bully in a quest for justice. Two years later, McAllister and Wagner co-directed 'Worst Prom Ever' together. Since, Will McAllister has continued teaching and making an impact on filmmaking in and around Utah with his unique creative voice of fun, love, and optimism.
