Biography

Ivan DeJesus was born on January 9, 1953 in Santurce, Puerto Rico.

Signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 1969. Played 15 seasons for the Dodgers, Cubs, Phillies, Cardinals, Yankees, Giants, and Tigers.

Ivan DeJesus was acquired by Philadelphia from the Chicago Cubs in exchange of Larry Bowa and two minor league players. One of those minor league players was a third baseman named Ryne Sandberg. Whereas DeJesus only played a few years for the Phillies, Sandberg went on to have a hall of fame career with the Chicago Cubs. This is considered to be one of the worst trades in MLB history.
