Biography

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, actress Katherine Schmoke began her artistic journey as a dancer, training with acclaimed performer and storyteller Maria Broom. As a member of the Maria Broom Village Dance Troupe, Katherine was immersed in a tradition that fused movement, music, and global storytelling, an experience that inspired her creative voice and commitment to art as a platform for education, wellness, and community.

Raised in a family devoted to leadership, service, and creativity, Katherine was inspired early on to pursue a life in the arts. She studied drama at the Baltimore School for the Arts before earning acceptance to The Juilliard School of Drama, and later completed her BA in Drama/Theatre Arts at Columbia University.

Katherine’s career spans television, film, and independent cinema. She has appeared in acclaimed series such as The Wire, The Young and the Restless, and CSI, and has played leading roles in independent films including Frequency, Cinderella’s Gift, and HOA vs. UFO. Known for her emotional depth and grounded presence, she is frequently cast as the grieving mother, the lawyer, and the resilient sci-fi heroine.

Beyond acting, Katherine is an active member of the filmmaking community. She serves on the Sponsor Relations Committee for the Annapolis Film Festival, collaborating closely with festival leadership and supporting independent storytellers. Her creative journey has also been inspired by spiritual mentorship and a belief that artistry is inseparable from personal growth. Katherine is drawn to bold, powerful storytelling and dreams of leading roles in film and television.
