Biography

Laura Lippman was born on January 31, 1959 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She is a writer and producer, known for Every Secret Thing (2014), Lady in the Lake (2024) and Untitled Tess Monaghan Detective TV Series. She is married to David Simon. They have one child.

Author of a series of novels set in Baltimore and featuring Tess Monaghan, a reporter (like Lippmann) turned private investigator.

Former reporter for the (now defunct) San Antonio Light and the Baltimore Sun.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Daughter of Theo Lippmann Jr., a well-known and respected writer at the Baltimore Sun, and Madeline Lippman, a retired school librarian for the Baltimore City Public School System. Attended high school in Columbia, Maryland, where she was the captain of the Wilde Lake High School It's Academic team.
