Ben Van Lier is an actor and writer based in Auckland, New Zealand. He is most widely known for his work with online comedy group Viva La Dirt League, where he is not only one of the core cast, but also one of the lead writers.
Ben has been working with Viva La Dirt League since 2017, helping to grow the company to where it is now, with over 7 millions subscribers on YouTube, as well as millions of followers on other platforms like Facebook (6.5M), Tikok (1.6M), and Instagram (1M).
Ben is known for his wide range of characters and performances, veering from absurdist comedy in Techtown and Epic NPC Man, to more grounded emotional work in their various Mental Health related series.
Outside of his work with VLDL, Ben has appeared in multiple films and TV shows over the years, including M3GAN 2.0, American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story, and Waterhorse. Prior to his screen work, Ben worked extensively in the theater, writing, producing, and performing in plays throughout New Zealand.
When not acting and writing, Ben can often be found training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or working on his charcoal portrait skills.
