- At the height of his fame, worked both sides of the musical coin. One of the principal announcers for Arturo Toscanini's NBC Symphony Orchestra broadcasts, he also, as "Dr. Gino Hamilton," hosted the satirical show "The Chamber Music Society of Lower Basin Street" (NBC: 1940-1944, 1950-1953). The latter mixed tongue-in-cheek, mock-serious commentary with some of the best jazz music on the air at that time, some of it featuring vocals by then-unknowns Dinah Shore and Lena Horne.
