Jared Goodman
Baseball in the Dominican Republic is not just a game. For many Dominicans the long, competitive road to a professional baseball career is one of the few viable alternatives to a life of poverty. ROAD TO THE BIG LEAGUES introduces you to the young men who embark on this odyssey and shows you first hand the pressure and joy that go along with it. Through the eyes of local kids playing with pebbles to the perspective of Dominican major league stars David Ortiz and Vladimir Guerrero, this documentary reveals a side of 'America's Game' that few have ever seen before.

Jared Goodman began working on film and photography sets at the age of fifteen, developing an early foundation in visual storytelling. He later attended the University of Colorado, where he studied in the experimental film program under legendary avant-garde filmmaker Stan Brakhage and received the prestigious Goldfarb Award for excellence in filmmaking.

His first feature documentary, Road to the Big Leagues, premiered on ESPN, launching a career defined by character-driven stories inspired by real events. He went on to direct Captive Beauty before producing the Emmy® Award-winning Brothers in Exile as part of ESPN’s acclaimed 30 for 30 series. His films have screened internationally and aired on major platforms including Netflix, ESPN, STARZ, VICE, and Amazon, earning honors such as Best Feature Documentary, Audience Choice Awards, and recognition from Boston Magazine as Best New Filmmaker.

In addition to his documentary work, Goodman is an accomplished screenwriter focused on original and adapted screenplays rooted in true stories. His scripts have been recognized multiple times by the Academy Nicholl Fellowships and supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Hamptons Screenwriters Lab, and The Gotham (formerly IFP).

Alongside his narrative and documentary projects, Goodman directs award-winning commercial campaigns honored by the Effie Awards and shortlisted at the Cannes Lions. He is based in New York, where he continues to develop feature films for both narrative and documentary audiences.
