David Lane Diperstein is a New York City-based director and writer whose work spans documentary, narrative, and experimental film. A CINE Golden Eagle-winning filmmaker, he has developed a cinematic perspective that guides projects across genres, blending inventive storytelling with immersive visuals. Drawing on years of below-the-line experience in production, camera, post, and engineering, David blends vision with practical expertise. He works closely with crews to craft precise, immersive, and compelling genre-agnostic cinematic experiences.
Following a decade-long odyssey to find a diagnosis for a cerebral cavernous malformation, David underwent brain surgery in 2023. Coming out half-blind and unable to read or write, he returned to filmmaking just five months later. This experience now drives projects that blend urgency and social awareness. He is in production on "The Edge of Reality", a cinematic exploration of his own journey through medical mystery and the failures of the American healthcare system. The upcoming comedy short Roommates and his first feature documentary, "Get Me a Bag!", filmed during the 2008 World Series riot are coming soon.
Beyond filmmaking, David pursues creative experimentation in music and photography. He is currently developing tools for visual rehabilitation inspired by his own CCM recovery and experience in video engineering.
