- Multi-Award winning Director, Steve Rahaman was born on the Caribbean Islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Upon moving to New York, he spent his early childhood years in Brooklyn, but now resides in Long Island, NY.
Steve is the co-founder of Rahaman Studios Limited LLC and Falling Leaves Productions LLP, companies through which he has produced and distributed numerous independent film projects. His films explore crime, drama, action, suspense, and human conflict, frequently focusing on characters confronted by difficult choices, adversity, loyalty, redemption, and the consequences of their actions. Among his most recognized films is the award-winning To Be King, a dramatic story about a struggling boxer who must overcome tremendous adversity in his pursuit of redemption and success. The film earned multiple awards, including recognition at the New York International Film Festival, where Steve received honors for his filmmaking and screenwriting. IMDb currently lists To Be King with Steve as both director and writer.
Steve continued to develop his crime and action storytelling with films including Pain. The film follows an ex-convict attempting to rebuild his life after prison who becomes caught in a dangerous situation that forces him to confront violence once again. Steve served as director and writer, as well as producer, cinematographer, and editor.
His crime thriller Snitches further explored the world of organized crime and betrayal. The film follows a Queens crime boss who discovers that someone within his organization is secretly working with corrupt police officers. Steve directed the film, continuing his long-standing exploration of crime, loyalty, power, and family.
Steve also directed Unbound, a crime thriller. The film follows a father whose daughter has gone missing and who takes matters into his own hands while attempting to uncover the truth. Steve served as both director and writer, and the film was produced through Rahaman Studios.
His body of work also extends into short-form filmmaking. The Runner of Pamplona, a short drama, follows an aspiring actress racing across a city for an audition that could change her life. Steve was attached as director on the project.
Earlier projects such as Blood Line, Queens Bound, and Christmas Day established Steve's reputation for creating gritty independent crime dramas rooted in New York's urban landscape. Queens Bound, which Steve wrote and directed, serves as a prequel to Christmas Day, while Blood Line centers on a conflict between two powerful New York crime families. Beyond feature filmmaking, Steve has directed numerous short films, including Dirty Money.
