Richard grew up in Arcadia, CA where he spent much of his youth wanting to work on video games.
The nobility of Link saving Hyrule, the humor of Guybrush Threepwood becoming a pirate and the adventure of Indiana Jones finding Atlantis laid a foundation for his love of stories and storytelling. In High School he fell in love with theatre which he studied at Citrus College and UC Irvine. It was in his final quarter at UCI where he took his first editing class which became his focus from that point on. The confluence of art and technology was a perfect match which lead him through the worlds of unscripted television, scripted television and features.
He's served on the board of directors for the Motion Picture Editors Guild, volunteers with the Global Effort Initiative and co-founded Master the Workflow with Lawerence Jordan as a means to educate and usher in the next generation of assistant editors on their paths to becoming film editors.
