Sara Mortensen

Sara Mortensen is a Franco-Norwegian actress born in Paris. She grew up in Montmartre in an artistic environment: her father, Maxime Ferrier, is a visual artist who led workshops for children at the Centre Pompidou, and her mother, Elisabeth Mortensen, is an actress who appeared alongside Jane Fonda in Julia. Her parents met while working with Jérôme Savary’s Grand Magic Circus. During the filming of the Norwegian feature Papirfuglen, in which her mother played the lead, the family relocated to Oslo.
Alongside her artistic training, Mortensen pursued academic studies in history, earning a Master’s degree in Humanities from the Sorbonne with highest honors. She also trained extensively in classical dance, modern jazz, barre, and singing. She studied acting at the prestigious Cours Florent in both French and English, and further developed her technique with American acting coach Jordan Beswick. Fully trilingual, she performs in French, English, and Norwegian.
Mortensen began her career on stage, performing for over a decade in both English-language productions (The Laramie Project, Trigorin’s Notebook) and French theater (Un petit jeu sans conséquences), before transitioning to film (Déflagrations, He Even Has Your Eyes) and television (Chefs, L’Abîme).
She became widely known to French audiences through her role as a strong-willed math teacher in the long-running series Plus belle la vie, which she played for seven years. In 2016, she was cast by Clovis Cornillac in the series Chefs, further establishing her presence on screen.
Since 2019, Mortensen has starred as Astrid, an autistic archivist, in the hit series Astrid et Raphaëlle. The show has been sold in nearly 140 countries and has garnered international acclaim. For her performance, she received the Best Actress Award in Belgium in 2025. Now spanning over 50 episodes and six seasons, the series is currently in production for its seventh season, filming in Paris and Tokyo.

Alongside her acting work, she is deeply committed to animal welfare, dedicating much of her free time to this passion.
