Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards, Best Student Production Nomination from the Television Academy. These all were group awards for Chicago's Columbia College 2010 Frequency TV series of "Debbie's Got Class" in which Joel played the lead role of Principal Pinman.

- Joel started using the TV-Film-Stage name "Joel" instead of "Joe" when the production company for "America's Most Wanted" in 1991 mistakenly credited (and paid) him as "Joel Rogers" instead of "Joe Rogers". Casting directors, in Palm Springs CA, then asked for "Joel" soon thereafter, ..and the name stuck..!.
- While living in Palm Springs, California, Joel served as Executive Director/Producer of the renowned Valley Players Guild and Palm Springs Playhouse.
- A good friend, acting coach, and inspiration was Jean Carson, the beloved Fun Girl with the deep voice (Daphne) on several episodes of the Andy Griffith in the early 1960's. They produced, acted and worked together on a variety of projects in the early 1990's.
