Hailing from a middle-class family in Alwar, Rajasthan, Sakshi Tanwar is the daughter of Rajendra Singh Tanwar, a retired CBI officer. Her educational journey included stints in various Kendriya Vidyalayas (Central School) and culminated in her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi. Despite initial aspirations for administrative services and mass communications, Sakshi's trajectory took an unexpected turn when she auditioned for Doordarshan's film songs-based program, Albela Sur Mela, on the suggestion of a close friend. Surprisingly selected, this marked the commencement of her television journey.

While her academic pursuits temporarily took a backseat with unsuccessful attempts in entrance tests, Sakshi's passion for acting had deeper roots. Her college days saw her actively involved as the secretary and president of the dramatic society, providing her with a foundation in stage performances. Transitioning to facing the camera brought about new challenges, but her confidence grew after an initial stint in anchoring.

Originally drawn to acting for its financial and popularity aspects, Sakshi Tanwar initially chose roles with minimal commitment.
