Biography

  • Arben Zharku is a Creative Producer based in Amsterdam. Prior to this, he served as President and CEO of the National Film Fund of Kosovo 'QKK' (2011-2021). He was also Manager at the Multimedia Center and Director of the SKENA UP International Film Festival (2003-2013).

    During his mandate at the Kosovo Film Fund, he supported acclaimed filmmakers and films such as Hive by Blerta Basholli, Babai and Exile by Visar Morina, Looking for Venera by Norika Sefa, Vera Dreams of the Sea by Kaltrina Krasniqi, Zana by Antoneta Kastrati, The Hill Where Lionesses Roar by Luàna Bajrami, Shok by Jamie Donoughue, and In Between and Displaced by Samir Karahoda, among others, contributing to the rise of the Kosovo New Wave.

    He is a member of the European Film Academy, EAVE, and was on the Board of Directors of the European Film Promotion.

  • He is one of the founders and director of the SKENA UP International students Film and Theatre Festival which is considered as on of the biggest festival in Kosovo. Haveing more than 40 Film accademies presented every year and with lot of special guest such as: Katriel Schory, Nik Powell, Jan Harlan, Donall McCusker, Pavel Jech, Arta Dobroshi, Jacques Achoti, Gjergj Gjuvani, Bernd Buder etc.
  • Jury Member at the Tel-Aviv International Students Film Festival in Israel in 2010 (international competition).
  • Jury Member at the Cottbus Film Festival in Germany in 2010 (short competition program) which also presented his film "Tonight is Cancelled" an Irish-Kosovo co-production directed by Brendan Grant.
  • Jury Member at the Art Film Festival in Slovakia in 2010 (main competition program).
  • Since April 2011, he is President of the Board in Kosovo Film Center, a public film foundation in Kosovo.
