Biography

Gregory Mikell made his Broadway debut in 2001 in Cheryl Davis's "The Color of Justice," based on the Supreme Court's ruling of Brown v. the Board of Education. In which he played Brown.

Gregory was born in Statesboro, Georgia, where he grew up. His most recent stage performance was with New Century theater in the award-winning playwright Lynne Nottage's Intimate Apparel and Quantum Theater's 'Breakfast With Mugabe.' Other work includes Othello and Macbeth as part of New Perspective Theater's Shakespeare's Villains series, New Jersey Repertory's Theater Brute Series, of which he remains a member, All For Love with Boomerang Theater at NY Center Stage, The Exonerated at Florida Studio Theater, Gentleman caller in a Creative Artist Lab adaptation of The Glass Menagerie as well as The Seagull. Other work includes Wings Theater Company's "Richard The Lionheart while rehearsing with Stage East ensemble for a production of Lee Blessing's 'A Walk In The Woods" in the role of John Honeyman. Soon after, he played the role of Kulygin in Chekhov's Three Sisters with the Prospect Theater Company, The Memory Orchestra at HERE Art Center, Welcome To Our City by Thomas Wolfe at The Mint Theater, toured with Theater Works USA's The Color of Justice by Cheryl Davis.

Other favorite theatre roles include Antipholus of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors, Cloten in Cymbeline, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, and Hoke in Driving Miss Daisy. Recent feature film credits in production as of Summer 2009, The Guiding Hand (AKA 7E) and Blood Run Free. Prior films include the lead role in the Indie The New Movie, an action thriller: Heart Attack, a romantic comedy, Buddy Hampton, a jazz short biopic, The Warrior Class by Alan Hruska and Hitler's Strawberries, a comedy, as well as being a voice-over artist, having recorded for TV and film such as ABC's 20/20, National Geographic and film/documentaries.

Gregory Mikell is a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA. He formed his own production company many years ago to lay the foundation for his vision of Acclaim Theatricals LLC. As of 2012, Gregory's dream took flight as he fulfilled his intention of creating opportunities for independent artists to help make their dreams come true. He has two web series in production, 'The Shakespeare Series' and 'On The Town,' a monthly online entertainment talk show preparing to expand to global markets.

He has written a one-person stage play adaptation of a famous novel and merely awaits permission from the publisher to go into production in 2025. His upcoming feature film, "Impetus: A Decision," which takes on racial profiling challenges, will be shot in late 2025. He also has numerous other feature films, television pilots, and half-hour comedy scripts in development. He is currently engaged with the first season of his new project, "The One Minute Podcast."

The cast was put to the test as the format of this half hour comedy pilot is heavily long-form improvisation based. We often only did 2 to 3 takes and shot with up to four cameras at a time to make certain that when that magic moment happened and we riffed that we had as much coverage as possible. The skills needed and the preparation are no less than that of a scripted role, yet requiring the actor to malleable to the instant changing dynamics of the situation. When it came to editing, Gregory really kicked himself in the head for coming up with the concept. As you'll see if you watch the Twitter Vine Video Intros of each character, Gregory developed the concept that each actor justified their character's role in Bobby's, our hero's story line. Some had a hard time with the concept initially, but flew really quickly once they adjusted. This is Gregory's best analogy: "I've just given you a Black Amex card and said spend it however you like. So stop procrastinating.
