Overview

  • Born
    February 17 · Orleans, France

Biography

  • Born in Orléans, France, Laurent Vayriot made his first short film in Super 8 mm color with sound at the age of 13, as screenwriter, director, cameraman, and actor. His discovery of the drums took him away from filmmaking, which he returned to 20 years later after devoting himself fully to music and then photography. He wrote, produced, and directed a 35 mm short film, "The Chosen One," a tribute to German Expressionist cinema, which was selected for 15 international festivals, won nine awards, including the CNC Quality Award in France, and was shown as the opening act in some theaters for The Blair Witch Project in his country. Laurent went on to write, produce, and direct four other short films, including one shot in English in Vancouver, BC, Canada. At the same time, he directed dozens of music videos, mainly for jazz and classical music, and collaborated on several occasions with painters, visual artists, and contemporary dancers. In 2022, he co-wrote the feature film "Bonne Conduite" (Serial Driver) directed by Jonathan Barré, and has since written three other feature film scripts, including "Exeat," a psychological thriller, Genre Winner of the 4th edition of Your Script Produced! and Quarter-Finalist of Outstanding Screenplays 2025. He is (2025) currently developing, as a screenwriter and director, "Exeat" in the US and "O," a survival story, in France, while finishing writing a new feature film project entitled "Everybody Dies at the End."
