Biography

Kim's music is defined by deeply nuanced emotion and personal expression, spanning immersive sound compositions and contemporary scoring for visual media - including film, television, and video games. His innovative work blends synthesizers, textural sound design, and full symphony orchestras into a richly layered sonic landscape.

In his state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos studio, Kim mixes himself, placing listeners at the heart of a truly immersive sonic experience, enhancing the multi-dimensional impact of his compositions.

Based between Los Angeles and Germany, Kim has composed scores for major US network TV shows, including Castle, Missing, The Whispers, The Unit, and Lie to Me. He has also collaborated with iconic brands such as Babelsberg Studios, Square Enix, and LOLA (the German Oscars).

As a solo artist, Kim has released two albums and several singles. His intimate neoclassical album Being and Skylight: Notes from a Logbook are inspired by his passion for flying as a former wingsuit skydiver.

Kim is passionate about projects that drive political and social change. His contributions include the multi-award-winning feature documentary Skid Row Marathon and The Game: Gambling Between Life and Death, which highlights the plight of refugees at the European border.

In 2012, game developer Square Enix revealed the Final Fantasy tech demo "Agni's Philosophy" to showcase their upcoming game engine. For its corresponding E3 trailer, Kim collaborated with Robert Duncan to compose the trailer's score.
