Michał Marczak is a director, writer and cinematographer whose films fuse documentary intimacy with a highly authored, cinematic style. His 2026 feature documentary Closure premiered in at the Sundance Film Festival and received strong critical attention during the festival, including being ranked #1 in IndieWire’s Critics Survey for Best International Documentary.
Marczak first gained international recognition with All These Sleepless Nights, which won the Sundance Directing Award and went on to win the Heterodox Award at Cinema Eye Honors. The film also appeared on prominent critics’ lists, including Rolling Stone, and was named by IndieWire among the 100 best films of the decade.
His feature documentary Fuck for Forest had its North American premiere at SXSW and later won Best Documentary at the Warsaw Film Festival, receiving strong critical and awards recognition.
In addition to feature films, Marczak has among other directed music videos for Radiohead and for Mark Pritchard featuring Thom Yorke, including a short film that premiered at Sundance NEXT Fest. He studied film at the California Institute of the Arts and is a member of the European Film Academy.
