Direct descent from the Guinness family through his father's side. His father Bryan Guinness is the son of Walter Guinness, 1st Baron Moyne, son of Edward Cecil Guinness, 1st Earl of Iveagh, and grandson of Benjamin Lee Guinness, who in turn was the grandson of Arthur Guinness, the founder of the Guinness brewery business.
