Lynsey Addario was born on November 13, 1973 in Norwalk, Connecticut, USA. She is a cinematographer and producer, known for It's What I Do, A Long Separation (2017) and Starved for Attention (2011).

[ on being a female photojournalist in a war zone] On the front lines it doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, so long as you keep up. But I think in the Muslim world where I work a lot, I have better access to women and children because the society is segregated by gender.

[on where she was most afraid] Definitely in Libya. We stopped at a checkpoint,and Gaddafi's troops were full of hatred and adrenaline and so amped up at having caught Western journalists.They made us lie down, and they put guns to our heads and were about to execute us. I remember being more terrified than I'd ever been.
