Most recently John Hedlund formed Open Iris Entertainment for the release of the award winning feature film "Star Crossed Lovers", winner Best Feature Adaptation at the Garden State Film Festival 2016 and winner Best Feature at the International Film Festival Manhattan 2016. Also nominated Best Director for Francesco Nuzzi at the International Film Festival Manhattan.
Before venturing into film, John was Technical Director and Post Production Supervisor for PopSugar's live web broadcasts and cable Television show. Director & Editor of 300+ Cable TV News Segments . Technical Director of 200+ Live Webcasts Including POPSUGAR LIVE Oscar Specials for the 2014 & 2015 Academy Awards Red Carpet
John grew up entertaining in the arts. At the age of 5 he was the lead in a small production at his school. He played The Mayor of Garbage Town. Later he would go on to musical theatre in high school with lead roles in "Grease", "Fiddler on the Roof", and "How to Succeed in Business with out Really Trying". During college John wanted to stay close to New York and his home in New Jersey. He decided to attend William Paterson University where he majored in communications while concentrating on film and television production.
