Her name C.J. stands for Criselda Janice. Her mother named her after two celebrities: Criselda, from the beauty queen Dang Cecilio whose real name is Criselda, and Janice because her mother was a fan of actress Janice De Belen.

Her mother wanted her to be a beauty queen, much like her mom's idol, Dang Cecilio.
