Mini bio

  • Kyle Young, was born on June 12, 1986 in Hartford, Connecticut. At age 6, Kyle moved to Springfield, Massachusetts with his parents Joe and Teressa Young, where he continued to grow up and round himself into an avid lover of arts and entertainment. He used to act in his early years in school plays, while also enjoying art classes, gym, and even joining his dad after school at work.

A few years after the move to Springfield, his sister Paige was born. He went to school at Our Lady of Hope for his secondary education, and continued on to Cathedral High School, where he played football and ran track. Kyle attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for two years, during which he took jobs such as custodial work and cafeteria detail. Kyle then transferred to the Los Angeles area and later graduated from Columbia College of Hollywood with, his bachelor's degree in film. He is continuously working on his ever-growing archive of music. Kyle sees these as all life-changing events, and feels blessed to have gone through them, even with tribulations along the way.

Kyle was inspired to create his own unique brand of music ever since a young age. He was first drawn in by his grandfather's piano in his living room, then creating his own beats and music with a Casio keyboard. Kyle truly began taking his talents seriously when he began to write his freshman year of high school, and making his first recording in the summer of 2004 with Dan "Scatterbox" Sheils, whom introduced Kyle to the idea of rapping, and thus engrossing him in the world of hip hop.

Kyle already had many songs under his belt upon his first year of college, but he met a new group of people that were also very much involved in creating music, thus recording many beats and songs with G-Spot in the dorms of the University of Massachusetts. Kyle then met Chad and Gerard, and collaborated to create a new flavor of music. Upon the move to Los Angeles in September of 2006, Kyle created yet another blend of talents in the presence of Chad and Simone, thus becoming Collabo.

  • Kyle Young has always been surrounded by art, whether it was the work of his artist dad Joe Young Jr. or music. But it's the music that has really moved Kyle. Born in Hartford, Kyle grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts. His grandfather's piano and then a Casio keyboard gave Kyle a way to express himself, creating his own beats and music. He began writing in freshman year at Cathedral High School. He made his first recording in 2004 with a friend, Dan "Scatterboxx" Sheils, who introduced Kyle to the idea of rapping.

Kyle can be found creating compositions and expanding their realm with the moving image. Kyle graduated in 2011 with a BFA in Cinema and Television from Columbia College Hollywood in Los Angeles. Kyle's groups have included Collabo and Soggy Rotten. His "Are You Sleeping?" music video, with Natasha Ramos, has been on national TV, and his songs have been used in films. Collabo's "Can You" was used in "Copper Penny" and "Morbid: A Love Story." Kyle's solo "Bang" can be heard in "Copper Penny"
