Biography

Julie Hassett

Mini bio

  • Julie Hassett was born in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, where she grew up creating visual art as a hobby throughout her childhood adolescence, until she moved to Staten Island, NY to attend Wagner College. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Art (2008), she moved to Queens, NY where she lived for 3 years and worked as a substance abuse counselor at a methadone clinic in Manhattan. She moved back to her hometown in MA, where she only intended on staying for two months before relocating back to NYC, but decided her dream to live in Southern California needed to become a reality. It was at this time (2011), that she truly became serious about making art - painting, drawing and photography. While looking to save up for her move to Los Angeles, Julie began a part-time job teaching art to kids and doing elaborate face painting at birthday parties on weekends. Between this job, selling artwork on the side and a working a full-time sales job as an Advertising Account Executive for a newspaper, she was able to save enough money to move across the country to Los Angeles in early 2013, where she started her own face painting company called "Let's Gogh Paint!" Shortly after starting her business, she added henna services and body painting to her repertoire and started working in the entertainment industry and for private clients almost immediately. In 2014, she won the Luscious Productions Body Painting Competition in Los Angeles and added Special Effects makeup and beauty makeup services to her business as well. In early 2015, Julie competed in the Body Fine Art body painting competition in Los Angeles, among 19 of the world's top body painters, body painted Nicki Minaj's dancers at the MTV Video Music Awards, as well as The Janoskians for the Teen Choice Awards, and was pursued for 2 seasons of the body painting competition show, "Skin Wars," on GSN. She has continued to work in digital media, film, television, fashion, private parties and in the music industry and has traveled around the US and internationally for body painting projects.
