Béla Bagota is a Hungarian film director, screenwriter and producer. He studied directing at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, where his graduation film, With Clean Hands, won the Simó Sándor Award for Best Student Film.
He later worked as an assistant director on Hungarian and international productions including Tender Son: The Frankenstein Project, Bad Poems, Spiral, The Martian and The Testament of Ann Lee.
His feature debut, the Transylvanian crime drama Valan: Valley of Angels, premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival and won Best Director and Best Screenplay at Fantasporto, as well as the Hungarian Film Critics Award for Best Director.
Bagota also directed RTL Hungary’s award-winning series Side Effect. He is the founder and creative producer of Pistachio.
