Biography

I've never been in a fight, but if I was going to [fight over something] it wouldn't be over a man, no man is worth my dignity. Besides, nothing can match the effect of well-chosen words, even a fist to the face.

People call it the acting 'bug', and there really is no better explanation. It's like once you get a taste of the challenge and the power that good drama has on people it's in your blood, it stops being a hobby and starts becoming the reason you wake up in the morning.

I really embrace change. Change is what makes theatre dramatic. If everyone stayed the same there would be no drama.

When I first moved to LA my mom came out to help me settle-in and get my place together. About a week later, as I was driving her back to the airport, I was cut-off in traffic and the guy gave me the bird! My mom just looked over at me, and said, "WOW! I think that means you really live here now! How exciting!"

My first job after moving to LA was an Equity production of Steel Magnolias. I had done community theatre in Kentucky, but this was my first professional production. I was cast as 'Annelle' and was performing alongside 2 tenured theatre professors and 3 others that had all been acting 20+ years. I was so intimidated! The night of our first rehearsal everyone commented on how quiet I'd gotten, I waited for our first break before going outside with them and coming clean. They all laughed, they told me that they would never have guessed, and how much they already enjoyed my character. Rehearsals were tough because I had a lot of catching up to do as far as stage technique, but it just made it that much better when the show was a success. After that I realized that it's not always about the credits on your resume, that it's ultimately the devotion to your craft and your character that brings a story to life.
