Raised in Youngstown, Ohio, Michael attended Harvard University, where he played football and graduated with a degree in psychology. He went on to receive a Hoyns Fellowship in Creative Writing at The University of Virginia. He has taught screenwriting at UCLA, UGA, and The Idyllwild Arts Academy. He lives in Los Angeles with his family.
