Ryan Shovey is a Los Angeles-based horror writer and director known for crafting tales where outcasts must embrace their darkness to overcome their demons. Drawing inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe, Tim Burton, and John Carpenter, Ryan creates empathetic stories steeped in shadow and suspense.
His short film Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart won the CINE Golden Eagle Award for Excellence, and his film Sloppy Seconds was showcased at the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con. Both Sloppy Seconds and Mirrored are featured in the anthology Pulp Modern: Die Laughing, now streaming on Tubi.
Ryan's feature screenplays, including Parasomnia, Jeremy is the Devil, Raining Blood, and A Waking Nightmare, have earned recognition in competitions such as PAGE Screenwriting and the ISA Fast Track Fellowship. A self-taught filmmaker, he has directed over a dozen short films, blending poetic dread with visceral thrills.
