On 17 April 2015, British tabloid The Sun printed an opinion-piece by her attacking immigrants who cross the Mediterranean to settle in Britain, in which she wrote: 'Make no mistake, these migrants are like cockroaches... they are built to survive a nuclear bomb'. This appeared on the same day that a fishing vessel carrying migrants sunk off the coast of Libya, claiming 800 lives. Her article was denounced by, amongst others, the United Nations commissioner for human rights.

Described by Donald Trump during his Presidential campaign as "respected British columnist Katie Hopkins", an appellation which occasioned universal derision in the UK. After Trump's election victory, she said she would be leaving Britain to live in the United States, which broadcaster Charlie Brooker said was the one good piece of news to come out of the US 2016 election. However, more than two years after Trump's inauguration, she's still in Britain.

Famously disparaged people who gave their children unusual names on "This Morning", including children named after locations. When it was pointed out by Philip Scofield that her child was named India, she said that India was not a location. At another point during the interview she can be heard to say "from a different Class.... holes.".

On 26 May 2017, her job with talk radio station LBC was terminated after she tweeted that Britain needed a "final solution" in the wake of the Manchester bombing.

She has on several occasions advocated involuntary euthanasia for all people over the age of eighty.

I really think if you have a tattoo you have to wonder about what kind of future you have ahead of you. As an employer, I wouldn't employ someone with tattoos as I would wonder what customers would think about them. For me, tattoos are just a way for people to find attention who haven't found another way in their life to achieve it by conventional means.
