Chilean huaso (guacho) cowboy who helped rescued
Nando Parrado and
Roberto Canessa, who were two of the 16 survivors of the ill-fated Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 that crashed in the Andes Mountains on October 13, 1972. He encountered both men, who trekked from the crash site to a neighboring river after 72 days in the wild.
