Amr Abed is an Egyptian actor, filmmaker, and writer. He is developing his debut feature, El-i-faat maat - Let Sleeping Dogs Lie, selected for the Rawi 2020 Screenwriters' Lab. Abed wrote and directed the short film The Ditch (2021), which premiered at the Cairo International Film Festival. His next shorts are Cairo Standstill, which is in distribution, and White Dot, which is in post-production.
As an actor, he has appeared in Awqat Faragh (2006), Rags & Tatters (2013), Exterior/Night (2018), and When We're Born (2019), all screened at major international festivals. He also co-wrote the Netflix series Mawid ma al-Madi (Echo of the Past). Abed holds a master's in directing from ESCAC, Spain.
