Biography

One of the 16 survivors of the Andes tragedy.

He lived for several years in Brazil, and later settled again in Montevideo, where he dedicated himself to the business field in the field of heating and air conditioning.

Years before his death, Mangino had participated in the creation of a wine line in tribute to his deceased companions, with the same name as the place where the accident occurred: The Valley of Tears.

He trained as an agricultural technician and was a regular lecturer on his experience.

Mangino was 19 years old at the time of the accident of flight 571 of the Uruguayan Air Force. He suffered serious fractures in his left leg - tibia and fibula - and was unable to move throughout the odyssey.
