Ex-Formula One racing driver, who raced for: Minardi (1996 (8 GPs)), Jordan (1997 (17 GPs), 2002 (16 GPs)-2003 (16 GPs)), Benetton (1998 (16 GPs)-1999 (16 GPs)-2000 (17 GPs)-2001 (17 GPs)), Sauber (2004 (18 GPs)), Renault (2005 (18 GPs)-2006 (18 GPs)-2007 (17 GPs)), Force India (2008 (18 GPs)-2009 (12 GPs)) and Ferrari (2009 (5 GPs)). He started 229 Grands Prix, 3 Wins, 2 Fastest Laps, 19 Podiums and 275 Points. Best ranked in the World Championship: 4th in 2006.

He won two Formula One races during his time with the Renault team between 2005 and 2007: the 2005 Australian Grand Prix and the 2006 Malaysian Grand Prix.

Five days after the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix, Giancarlo Fisichella took his first Formula 1 victory, a race that was stopped with 55 of the 71 laps completed. Initially, Kimi Räikkönen was erroneously declared the winner on lap 53, although Fisichella had overtaken him to take the lead on lap 54. The result was later revised in Paris, France, as the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) ruled that the race stewards had been misled by the timing system, which had indicated a win for Räikkönen, and evidence received by the governing body showed that Fisichella had already started his 56th lap before the red flag was waved. At the next race, the San Marino Grand Prix, Räikkönen handed the winner's trophy over to Fisichella.
