    Louis J Sexty

Biography

  • Lou Sexty studied theatre as an undergraduate at Dartington College of Arts. He was subsequently awarded a Masters degree in performance from Middlesex University and also holds a second MA in film studies from Leeds University.

His early life as an actor and musician includes work for Bristol Old Vic, Sheffield Crucible, Derby Playhouse, London Bubble and the New Vic theatre company. In New York, Lou taught for three seasons with the Obie Award winning company "Theatre for a New Audience". In Los Angeles Lou worked on films at several major film studios including Fox, Disney and Paramount.

As a painter, Lou was fortunate to sell extensively both nationally and internationally. His clients included Alec Baldwin, Rachel Stephens, Patrick Kielty and The Professional Footballer Association. Exhibitions included the Wolff Gallery, the Affordable Art Fair, Manchester Art Show, Fresh Art and Kings Road Gallery. Lou's work also featured prominently on television, notably in the BAFTA winning Channel 4 programme "Faking It" and on "Artsworld".

Lou directed and produced a short film shot at the Musee d'Art Modern Paris, featuring the works of the great American abstract painter Mark Rothko. His first short film "Touched" premiered at the Leeds International Film Festival, was shown at the Metro Cinema in London, as part of the Raindance Film Festival, and was also screened at the Chichester Film Festival.

Lou is presently now taking a much needed sabbatical. He sold his house and spent several glorious months traveling in Scotland and later in Spain. On his return Lou bought an old static caravan overlooking the sea at Bigbury Bay and has been living there since.

His life has now come full circle and he has started to play the guitar, sing and perform music again. Lou was very fortunate to record his new album 'New Music For Grown Ups' with some extremely talented musicians including Matt Backer (Rumer, ABC) Ginny Clee (The Dear Jane's, Brian Kennedy) Simon Edwards (Talk Talk, Billy Bragg) and Roy Dodds (Eddi Reader, Fairground Attraction). It is available on iTunes, Amazon, and at other usual outlets. It has recently received a few radio plays in America on the station "Pirate Radio" in the Florida Keys.
