- Michael Shane Bowles is a director of photography, writer, editor, and director based in Oceanside, California. Originally from Rochester, New York, Michael grew up in Central Florida before moving to the West Coast in 2011.
Michael has spent over a decade working on various indie film productions all over Southern California. He’s served as director of photography, camera operator, writer, assistant camera and editor.
In 2023 Michael directed his first short that he also wrote "The Mad Doctor of the Intercontinental Hotel". The film completed its award-winning festival run in 2024. Michael’s next film, "Piñata" is in production and tells the story of a sentient piñata that learns the terrible truth of his existence too late to do anything about it.
Michael has worked as an editor and director of photography for the past 15 years at a world renown leadership training and development company based in Escondido, California.
In his free time he enjoys kayaking at the break of dawn, reading cosmic horror books, taking long walks on the beach and slowly learning Tool songs on the bass guitar.
