Nick first became interested in acting when his mom pushed him to audition for a community theater production of "Pirates of Penzance". Nick was cast as a pirate and instantly fell in love with the stage. He began studying acting on weekends and taking theatre and jazz performance in high school. When he and his entire family were selected for a national WalMart/Sony PS2 commercial, Nick realized he preferred the camera to the stage. Despite being offered a full academic scholarship to a university, Nick decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue his love of film and television. He does not regret his decision.

Semi-retired from his acting career in 2014. Returned to acting in 2025 as "The Agent" in White Ladybug film.

He is also the second ever actor to play the character officially in live-action, following Matthew Lillard who played the character previously. As of 2025, a new live-action Scooby-Doo adaptation is being developed where the role will most likely be recast again for a second time, making him the second to play the character in three live-action interactions.

[on sounding like Shaggy] Without a doubt, that is my biggest concern. Not only is it difficult to hold the right balance between squeaky and smooth, but all the screaming I do takes my voice away fairly quickly. For Curse of the Lake Monster, I completely lost my voice one night and had to have warm lemon and honey tea coming pretty consistently throughout the night. I'm blessed to work with so many great people that were kind enough to run tea to me all night!
Encourage everyone to take this time to learn what unites us and what really makes us all the same as people and not focus so much on what divides us, 'cause that's just gonna be more of a self-fulfilling prophecy that the further we go into division the easier it is to be more divided and create a dichotomy.
