Biography

  • Born in Paris and raised in Portugal until he was teenager, Kevin’s early fascination with cinema brought him to Los Angeles where he graduated from the School of Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University. It was there he first paired his love for storytelling with an extreme proficiency in the technical side of filmmaking to trailblaze a unique path as writer, producer, and cinematographer. His first feature "ThanksKilling", created and filmed with collaborator Jordan Downey while the two were still college juniors, was a masterclass in independent filmmaking that has carved its place in cult history. In the years after film school, he went on to become one of Funny or Die’s primary cinematographers, working with talent including Will Ferrell, Don Cheadle, and Steve Carell. His narrative and commercial work for brands such as Walgreens, Ford, and Starbucks led to features including the Rosa Parks biopic Behind the Movement, directed by Aric Avelino, and Blumhouse’s Unfriended: Dark Web. His work as a cinematographer always ran parallel to his own films and screenplays culminating in "The Head Hunter", which once again paired he and Downey for another indie marvel. The film earned seven festival awards, including Best Cinematography for Stewart, and became a showcase for his distinctive approach to visual storytelling.

Kevin most recently collaborated with Downey on The Cycle, serving as co-writer and cinematographer, with Downey directing. Starring Deborah Ann Woll and Jeffrey Donovan, the film will have its world premiere at Fantastic Fest before its October release on Shudder. The pair continue their longstanding creative partnership with the upcoming thriller Override, starring Frank Grillo and Maria Bakalova. With a background spanning writing, producing and cinematography Kevin brings a multidisciplinary approach to visual storytelling, allowing him to shape stories in more ways than one.
