Colin Strong(I)

Colin Strong started his career as an Engineer at the BBC. He came to directing by chance when the Director for a live recording became ill and he was able to step in. His directing career took off from then. He worked in Light Entertainment as Producer and Director with most of the great musicians of the 1970's on shows like "The Old Grey Whistle Test" and many stars of the 70's with "Parkinson"; keeping the camera turning over for the then famous moment when Emu "attacks" Parkinson. Colin later moved into documentaries. Whilst filming the series "Fighter Pilots" which followed pilots in their 3 year training at the RAF, Colin also took part in all the training to get a feel of what they were going through. This resulted in him flying a Jet Provist solo, setting a Guinness Book of Records for the oldest civilian to learn to fly a fighter jet. He received a BAFTA nomination for outstanding achievement during 1981 in the category Best Factual Series "Fighter Pilots".
