Biography

Gerry Anderson was born on October 28, 1944 in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, UK. He was a writer, known for A City Dreaming (2014), On the Air (2006) and Monumental (2013). He was married to Christine. He died on August 21, 2014 in Northern Ireland, UK.

Before his radio and TV career, he played guitar in Manchester clubs. He toured the UK and abroad with the Chessmen. In Canada, he joined a band called Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks. He eventually tired of life on the road, and returned to Derry. He earned a degree in sociology and social anthropology, and a postgraduate diploma in education.

He was inducted into the UK Radio Hall of Fame in 2005.

He was one of Northern Ireland's best-known radio presenters. He hosted radio and TV programs for 30 years. He started out in broadcasting with BBC Radio Foyle in his native Londonderry, a place he dubbed "Stroke City".
